Why ENFit®?

ENFit® Connection brings several benefits, with patient safety being the most important. Its threaded design helps prevent accidental disconnections, reducing the risk of feeding errors, and making the process cleaner and easier. This increases the confidence that patients are receiving their prescribed nutrition properly. With the use of an ENFit® connection there’s no longer a need for long-term use of adapters that link non-standardized systems together. This eliminates the complexity and potential risks of relying on extra pieces to make different connectors compatible, streamlining the process and enhancing both patient safety and user experience.

Why ENFit® Was Introduced:

ENFit® was developed as part of a global safety initiative to prevent enteral tubing misconnections, which can lead to serious medication errors. Before ENFit®, feeding tubes had connectors that could be mistakenly attached to IV or other medical lines, leading to dangerous complications. ENFit® eliminates that risk by making enteral feeding tubes incompatible with non-enteral devices.

Unique Connector Design – ENFit® has a distinct male-female configuration that is incompatible with Luer lock and other connectors, reducing the risk of tubing misconnections.

 

ISO 80369-3 Standard Compliance, which promotes consistent and safe enteral feeding connections worldwide. A key feature of ENFit® is its reverse gender orientation—with a female-ended connector on the administration set and a male-ended connector on the feeding tube. This design helps significantly reduce the risk of misconnections by making it incompatible with connectors from other clinical applications, thereby enhancing patient safety.
